Circuit City consumers are left in limbo while many of its former competitors are scrambling to take a share of the market that the once-massive consumer electronics store leaves behind.

HHGregg was one of the first businesses to jump at this open market by offering to honor Circuit City gift cards last fall, when the first store closings were announced.  They have now extended this offer, allowing consumers to redeem these gift cards for up to 20% of the purchase price of any HHGregg product up until April 1st.

Member dealers of the $11 billion buying group Brand Source are also accepting these gift cards.  HHGregg is offering factory-authorized service on Circuit City products for customers who have the original sales receipt, either in-store or through an in-home appointment.

To scoop up customers who use the Circuit City home services operation Firedog, Zip Express Installations is offering 15% off their similar services if customers input the code FIREDOG at the company’s website.  They hope to see an increase in customers, as many people scramble to find an installation service for their new TVs and other electronics.
