Bowers & Wilkins is coming on strong. After their recent announcement for their new revolutionary soundbar surround sound system, B&W is delivering a new high-end in-celing speaker. The CCM816 in-ceiling speaker uses technology derived from B&W’s flagship 800 Series and complements the already existing CCM818 and CCM817.
The CCM816 is a two-way speaker that has a woven Kevlar driver for the bas and midrange. While normally Kevlar cones appear yellow when coming from B&W, these in-ceiling speakers have a blue color to make them less attention oriented. The driver measures 6.5 inches, which is more compact than the CCM818’s 8-inch driver. The tweeter is 1-inch in diameter and is made from tube-loaded aluminum. Both of the drivers are set at a 28-degree angle while still remaining flush in the ceiling. The CCM816 will be available in February 09 for a suggested retail of $600 each. |
