Netgear is readying to update their digital media player lineup.  Most renowned for their Ethernet adapter products, Netgear is set to take on the AppleTV – or so they think.  Netgear's EVA9150 Digital Entertainer Elite will allow for videos and photos from YouTube and Flickr, in addition to the content from your PC, to be sent to your HDTV.

The EVA9150 comes with a 500GB hard drive, whereas the AppleTV only comes with a 160GB hard drive.  However, that is seemingly the extent of the advantages of the Netgear over the AppleTV.  Netgear's biggest disadvantage seems to be that it has no partnerships with content companies.  The AppleTV can connect to the iTunes store, and the Rocku Netflix will connect with the Netflix service.

The EVA9150 will retail for $400.  The AppleTV can be had for $230, while the Roku can be had for $100.
