Recently it was noticed that Wal-Mart was giving more shelf space to Blu-ray software.  Now, with Black Friday right around the corner, Wal-Mart is setting a new low price for Blu-ray hardware.  They will be offering the Magnavox Profile 1.1 Blu-ray Player for just $128.  This marks the lowest price for a Blu-ray player yet.

Underneath, the Magnavox player appears to be a Funai.  Nonetheless, it is a functional player that is remarkable for the price.  Last year, Wal-Mart had set records by offering Toshiba HD DVD Players for less than $90.  It unfortunately did not help save the HD DVD format.  However, perhaps this new price, if just for a day, will help stimulate the sales of BD software and bring those prices down.
