With the increasing burden on energy resources, it is great to see the home theater industry responding with solutions.  Recently, Energy Star released their 3.0 requirements.  Slowing but surely, manufacturers are designing components that not only meet the requirements, but exceed them as well.

Vizio is one such company that has announced that all of their LCD HDTVs that are currently shipping are Energy Star 3.0 compliant.  Many of their small LCDs use less power than a 60-Watt light bulb.

Vizio also announces their EcoHD LCD.  The 32-inch EcoHD uses about 44 percent less energy a regular 32-inch LCD HDTV.  It retails for $499.

Now all that needs to happen is the disappearance of the standby lights on the front of components that suck up energy.
