Texas Instruments promises a new DLP technology coming soon.  The new creation aims at combining 2-D, 3-D, and dual mode viewing presentations into a single DLP HDTV.  Dual mode would allow two separate video/audio signals to be present on the same TV at the same time.

Sadly, the technology would require each viewing member to wear special glasses to allow for only image A or image B to be seen.  If that isn't bad enough, one of the viewers would need to wear a special headset in order to hear the correct audio.

Honestly, it is nice that technology is moving forward, but sometimes it would be nice if the technology we currently have would be given preferential treatment (ie: upgrades).  How about we perfect split screen viewing?  Making viewers wear glasses is ridiculous.  Have you ever watched a 3-D film lately – those paper glasses are annoying.

The simpler solution here is to buy a second TV.
