The long anticipated Xbox Live hit the market today causing video game enthusiasts to flock to local retailers. Xbox Live is a video game console that connects to the internet allowing players to talk and play against each other as well as download the newest updates and games off of the internet as soon as they are available.

The Xbox Live’s voice component make it possible to talk to other players, ask for game invites, mask you voice and mute another players voice.

This is a huge step in the video game world because for the first time you can now have the quality of today’s new video game technology and play and talk with other people online. Xbox Live does require that you have high-speed Internet service; cable or DSL.

Xbox Live has strong competition from Sony who launched their PlayStation2 game service in Japan last May. Sony’s PlayStation 2 requires users to buy a hard disk drive and adaptor just to get online. The Xbox Live Starter Kit already includes all of this.

The Xbox Live starter kit sells for $49.99 and includes the Xbox communicator, Xbox Live enabled games, starter disc, subscription code and instruction manual. It is available at retailers such as Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA and KB Toys.
