Australian rockers, The Vines, whose debut album, Highly Evolved, has been certified Gold, will headline the MTV2 Handpicked Tour, a companion tour to the MTV2 Handpicked Vol. II enhanced CD (AudioRevolution.com review coming on November 1). Young U.K. quartet, The Music, whose debut album will be released in the U.S. in early 2003, will support on all of the dates.
The Vines' current single "Get Free," now an MTV2 Handpicked video and mainstay of alternative rock radio has helped the band go from playing small clubs in their native Australia to the cover Rolling Stone Magazine’s "Rock is Back!" issue in less that a year.
Declared "best unsigned band in Britain" by Radio 1 while its members were all teenagers, four young lads from Leeds known as The Music will support The Vines on all MTV2 Handpicked Tour dates. Mixing the levee-breaking bombast of Zeppelin-esque rock with mind-expanding beats reminiscent of Chemical Brothers, The Music's debut album will be released in the U.S. on February 11, 2003.
