Fans weren’t able to rescue “My So-called Life” or “Party of Five” from the television chopping block, but they seem to have succeeded in reviving the cult animation hit “Family Guy” almost two years after the last original episode ran. 20th Century Fox has committed to at least 22 new episodes of the show according to Cartoon Network. The new episodes will begin in 2005 and may run on “Adult Swim”, Cartoon network’s late night programming for adults. Another option for the show would be to return to the Fox line-up. There has been no official announcement concerning what channel the show will air on.

The choice to create more episodes shouldn’t have been a hard one. Since its conception, "Family Guy" has become quite the phenomenon with adult viewers. The show has enjoyed much success with the adult demographic, pulling in viewership numbers that contend with “The Late Show with David Letterman” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” It continues to be the #1 rated show during Cartoon Network’s “Adult Swim” even in syndication. “Family Guy” also enjoyed success in the DVD market in 2003 when it held the #1 spot for most sold DVD on Amazon.com for a few weeks, making it the top selling TV show of last year.

It looks like Baby Stewie will be getting something rarely handed out in TV Land- a second shot at world domination, all thanks to his fans.
