Powered by a new campaign to switch over PC users to Macintosh OSX, Steven Jobs, Apple’s CEO announced today that the highly touted iPod music storage device will now support Windows and PC users. Jobs is betting that PC users will find the ultra-sleek and non-Microsoft based iPod OS will lure people over to re-look at the new Macintosh operating system.

Apple also lowered the price of both of its current iPods to $299 for the 1000 song 5 Gig model and $399 for the 10 Gig 2000 song model. They are also going to release a 4000 song unit priced at $499.

The PC version will be available in August 2002.
