10 Blockbuster DVD Titles Coming From DTS in 5.1

DTS recently announced that several new titles have been added to thier release calendar of DVD titles encoded with DTS 5.1 Digital Surround soundtracks. Among these new releases are the first DTS-encoded DVD releases from Columbia/Tri-Star Home Video and Warner Home Video.

The first DTS-encoded DVDs from Warner Home Video will be Lethal Weapon 1, 2, and 3, Twister, as well as Tom Cruise’s Interview with the Vampire all available in June. These new titles are all special editions with high-quality video transfers and exciting new video extras such interactive menus, additional scenes, and behind the scenes footage. The first release from Columbia/Tri-Star Home Video to offer a DTS-encoded soundtrack, will be the box office blockbuster 2 DVD release of Men In Black, with a street date of September 5, 2000.

From Universal Home Video comes the DVD debut of the 1975 Steven Spielberg classic, Jaws. Originally presented in the theaters in 1.0 monaural sound, Spielberg has created an incredible new 5.1 re-mix for the eagerly anticipated DVD release.

DreamWorks plans to release DTS versions of The Haunting, The Prince of Egypt, and the recent Oscar-winner for Best Picture, American Beauty. The release dates are expected to be announced soon and AudioRevolution.com will keep you informed when these release dates are announced.

For music fans Image Entertainment will expand its catalog of Music Concert DVDs with 5.1 DTS Digital Surround soundtracks. Peter Frampton: Live in Detroit will be released in May, followed by Chaka Khan: BET on Jazz, Dreamscape: Special Edition, Jeffrey Osborne: BET on Jazz, and Steely Dan: Two Against Nature, scheduled for June. Image has also announced plans to release DTS versions of The Cranberries and The Paris Concert for Amnesty in the near future.
