DTS has announced that they will be releasing their first batch of DVD-Audio titles under their own DTS Entertainment record label in the coming months. These high resolution 5.1 releases will include a series of 96/24 classical titles from ILIAD, the Patrick Leonard produced Toy Matinee, Steve Stevens’ Flamenco A Go-Go, the Fabulous Thunderbirds as well as 5.1 audio mixes from new artists such as Larissa Stow, Pacific Coast Highway and The Gluey Brothers. Later in 2001, DTS Entertainment will be releasing several "stereo only" DVD-Audio titles including Sting’s Brand New Day and Cheryl Crow’s Globe Sessions.
Beginning January 15, 2001, all of the distribution for DTS Entertainment’s 5.1 music CDs and DVD-Audio releases will be handled by Valley Entertainment. There are currently over 115 DTS 5.1 music CDs available and with this new distribution deal, DTS expects to see demand for more titles increase. "Valley Entertainment is very excited to be working with DTS to help take their line of multi-channel recordings to the next level," said Barney Cohen, President of Valley Entertainment and acting CEO of Valley Media. "Valley has long been recognized to be on the forefront of technological innovation and the changing marketplace. We look forward to presenting this exciting format to a wider audience." |
