In a move similar to that of Warner Music Group, 5.1 Entertainment Group has just announced they are lowering the retail price of DVD-Audio discs on their four labels Immergent, Silverline, MyUtopia and Electromatrix to $17.98, a 25% decrease.
Now with prices that are the same as traditional 16 bit stereo CDs, these DVD-A discs feature high resolution 5.1 surround sound, bonus features such as artist commentaries, behind-the-scenes videos, photo albums, hidden "Easter eggs,” and will not only play in DVD-Audio players, but also in the estimated 35 million DVD-V players on the market. 5.1 Entertainment's Silverline label was the first to produce and release a DVD-Audio title, the Grammy-nominated "Swingin' For The Fences" by Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band. Silverline Records has been at the forefront in the development, production and marketing of DVD-Audio with 70 DVD-Audio titles released to date.
