Genesis speakers, which failed in 2001, is back in business with a new, big money backer from Singapore. The cult of personality leadership of Genesis founder and engineer, Arnie Nudell (Infinity) is also part of the new program to begin again with the high end loudspeaker company.

The new Genesis says they have a number of new Nudell designs in the works yet they are looking to formerly successful products like a redesigned AMP1 along with the 501 speakers and 928 subwoofer.

“We are now in the process of establishing offices and production facilities in Seattle. In order to maintain quality and consistency, Genesis loudspeakers will continue to be Made in the U.S.A.” said Mr. Koh, the new CEO of Genesis. “The first order of business, however, is to provide parts and service for all the existing owners and dealers of Genesis loudspeakers. We will have a parts and service department set up, but in the meantime, dealers and customers can send an email to and we will be doing our best to support you.”

The real first order of business for Genesis is going to be to see if they can find a new niche in an overpopulated loudspeaker market. The loudspeaker market in the U.S. is no longer driven by retail, high end audio sales as it was in 1991 when Genesis was founded. Retail dealers in 2002 demand obscene profit margins and manufacturers to practically sell speakers with glowing reviews and positive PR. Gone are the days of the audio enthusiast looking for the better sounding mouse trap. In are the days of Gen X upstart families looking to “hide the speakers in the wall” to match the 61 inch plasma TV. Stealth physical presence was never Genesis’ best attribute but their sound was always praised. With loyalists rejoicing, will this new project make it? Only time will tell but it is guaranteed to be one hell of a fight to even regain what was once theirs let alone grow market share.
