Escient Convergence Corp. announced that the company's new digital and physical music management system, FireBall ($1,999), now also provides free access to 60 high-speed, high-quality Sirius Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: SIRI) stations.

FireBall customers will now be able to easily select and listen to these additional Internet radio stations free of charge through the powerful Escient on-screen music interface. Available through the online entertainment services of Escient Convergence's sister-company, OpenGlobe, the 60 original digital channels are commercial-free and offer music in a wide variety of genres. These latest channels are supplied in addition to the Internet radio stations to which FireBall already provides access.

FireBall, released in January 2002, has won four prestigious industry awards since its introduction in the fall of 2001, including TechTV's Best of CES award for the Best Home Audio Product at CES 2002. Setting the standard for a new product category of easy-to-use, complete music-management solutions, FireBall is much more than a hard-drive music system, using Escient's unique on-screen music interface to bridge the capabilities of a CD music player and controller with the new world of digital-music file formats.

More information on Escient’s FireBall FireBall is a complete music management product that provides powerful, yet simple-to-use, ways to find and play CDs, MP3 collections, and pre-set, style-based Internet radio stations (such as jazz, blues, rock, and more), now also including the high-speed Sirius satellite stations. The revolutionary product allows direct access to music stored on the hard drive, CDs, connected, supported mega-disc CD changers, music-recognition services from Gracenote's CDDB(tm) database, Internet radio stations, and on-going, revolutionary enhanced entertainment services from sister company OpenGlobe(tm), Inc. OpenGlobe's entertainment services are delivered through FireBall, allowing FireBall users to learn about artists and their influences, explore new music from the same or similar artists, expand their collection by easily purchasing new music, and much more.

FireBall identifies, burns, catalogs, and manages both physical discs and digital-music files and has a CD-R/RW single internal drive for playback and for copying music at six times (6x) normal speed. Offering a 40 GB hard drive, the product delivers selectable compression rates up to 320 kbps, and provides over 850 hours of music at it's lowest compression rate.

With a remarkable ability to connect to a variety of home entertainment devices, FireBall puts all of a user's music in one place - regardless of the music's format. Multiple FireBalls can be networked together for music throughout a home with existing phone-line wiring or Ethernet, and each user can have his or her own independent interface to all of the available music.

FireBall is currently available at a retail price of $1,999.
