The Redhot and "fill in the blank" series of records feature George Gershwin cover tunes performed by the most high power and eclectic collections of performers. The proceeds from the sale of these CDs have raised--to date--over $7 million to benefit AIDS Research and relief. A great cause and motivating factor to assemble tremendously talented artists all on one musical effort.

'Redhot and Rhapsody, The Gershwin Groove' is an excellent record that will appeal to any true music lover. Every great Gershwin song is on this record, yet none of the arrangements are going to be what you expect. This is a good thing! When I heard Bobby Womack and The Roots rendition of the standard "Summertime" I immediately felt that this was the best song I had heard all year.

If you want to trip out with a completely new reference demo song that is truly stylish, has unbelievable percussion and sonic details coupled with stunning low frequency bass performance, dial into "They Can't Take That Away From Me" by Smoke City. I have never heard of them, but I'll be at Virgin tonight to see what other CDs Smoke City have that I can add to my collection.

The cast of talent on this Red, Hot includes, but is not limited to: Morcheeba, Natalie Merchant, Duncan Sheik, Clark Terry, Luscious Jackson, Sinead O'Connor, David Bowie and more. Everything that is wrong with Metallica's Garage right with Redhot and Rhapsody. The songs are legendary, the performances are inspired and the sound, across the board, is above average. This is the first reference disc 1999.
