The Best Of Me,
Arista Records
| Performance 7 | Sound 7.5 |

Who? Yes, yes, who is she. That was what we thought when her album arrived on our doorstep. Then we read the handy press kit they included instead of using it to line the parakeet cage. For your information, Andrea Martin has written songs for headliners En Vogue, Monica, SWV, and Toni Braxton. So there. The good side to this is that her album isn't as bubble-gum pop as those she's written for.

In her debut album, 'The Best Of Me,' Martin seems to have selected just that and produced a work that is consistent and moving. No, you probably won't be hearing many of these songs on the radio anytime soon, but perhaps that's a good thing. There appears to be a substance in this album you usually don't find on the radio. A substance that almost all of R&B is assuredly lacking right now. Mostly mellow and mostly meaningful, if you happen to be fans of Adriana Evans or Brigette McWilliams, 'Me' is an album we recommend you give a listen.
