Honorary Citizen, Legacy/Columbia Records
Performance 8 Sound 5.5

Peter Tosh is widely regarded as one of the greatest Reggae artists who ever lived; a man who, like his one-time band-mate Bob Marley, is revered as a quasi-deity in many cultures. It has been reported that his spirit has brought about hurricanes, stock market crashes, and the only unfinished papal mass in history. Unfortunately, one thing his spirit was obviously unable to do was remaster the first disc of this three-CD box set. The Singles CD included here is one of the single worst sounding compact discs I have ever heard. Peter Tosh recorded in the 1970's and 1980's not the 1930's, why they couldn't do something with these tracks is amazing.

However, as long you use disc number one for anything but listening pleasure, the rest of the box set is quite good. The second disc is completely live and contains ten previously unreleased tracks while the third contains fourteen classic album cuts.

As for sound quality, disc one, as mentioned is hardly good enough for skeet shooting, while all of disc two is live and disc three is fine. As for performance, Peter Tosh is arguably the best Reggae artist of all time and there are certain moments in this set which make you really wonder if there should ever even be such an argument.
