Bob Geldoff called Kurt Cobain "The John Lenon of the 90's". Hardly. The Foo Fighters capture the exciting, grungy hard edged essence of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Sprit" but without the heroin induced self loathing lyric.

The Foo Fighters are more produced and rock much harder than Nirvana and with song like Monkey Wrench they have the ability to rack up a big commercial hit. The recording is loud and sounds like Seattle but not to grungy and best of all avoids incessant wining. The best cuts are "Monkey Wrench," "Hey, Johnny Park" and the STP-esque "Wind Up". Strong songs, lots of energy and a dynamic recording, What more could you want?
