If you haven't heard of Big Pun by now, exactly where have you been? In New York it was all about the now-legendary sticker campaign. In L.A. it continues to be about a radio single ("Still Not A Player") which has been spun nearly to the breaking point. But, surprisingly, where many albums wilt in the light of their own hype, Big Pun's fills the stage's entirety with no problem. Featuring guest appearances by Black Thought (The Roots), Prodigy (Mobb Deep), Rebel INS (Wu-Tang), Noreaga, Wyclef Jean, Busta Rhymes, and his executive producer Fat Joe, 'Punishment' is an album as deep as it is diverse.

Ranging from the Latin-laced vocals of Big Pun himself to the Wyclef collaboration "Caribbean Connection" to the re-worked Dr. Dre/Snoop Doggy Dog classic "Deep Cover," Pun's debut contains rhymes big enough to merit the tidal wave of publicity behind them. Assuming you can look past an average recording quality, these sounds of the New York streets won't make you regret this purchase.
