The past few years have brought us many compilation albums that feature live, mainly mellow acoustic tracks, but this is not one of them. Yes, this is a live album featuring various artists. However, it is anything but mellow and acoustic. This album rocks and rocks hard. As its title suggests, this album is comprised of recordings made during the 1999 Family Values Tour, featuring artists such as Limp Bizkit, Primus and Korn.

The album opens with an energetic rendition of Limp Bizkit’s "Break Stuff," recorded in Kansas City. It is evident from the recording that the audience was not afraid to get involved and have fun. It also serves well to promote attendance at the next Family Values tour. Primus continues the high energy with the song "Lacquer Head." The album also features the early ‘90s quasi-hit song "My Name is Mud" by Primus. Limp Bizkit dominates the album with four tracks, and the band’s singer Fred Durst is featured on a bonus track. Limp Bizkit fans will find this album a must-buy. Korn perform their current radio hit "Falling Away From Me" and the lesser-known but just as great songs "A.D.I.D.A.S." and "Good God." Staind, Filter, Crystal Method, Method Man & Redman round out the featured artists. Fans of hard, alternative rock and rap cannot help but be pleased with this stellar lineup.

Family Values 1999 will have the kids rocking this summer, but the artists and producers of this album hope that it will get kids thinking as well. Limp Bizkit’s Durst sums it up with the following quote in the album’s liner notes: "In a world where values are often forgotten, we must instill them in our children. Don’t be an idiot, the images you see in this book have become a reality! [This is a reference to pictures of young children smoking and looking at pornography etc.] Kids grow into their surroundings, if you think it’s okay to smoke, do drugs, and drink alcohol around them think again – It’s Not! I’m not saying it’s always monkey-see-monkey-do but sometimes it is. Be careful of the things our kids are exposed to… just think about it." Well said, Fred.
