"It's like New York's been soft ever since Snoop came through and crushed the buildings/I'm tryin' to restore the feelin's . . ." Although this line wasn't spoken by DMX, like Jay-Z, DMX too is an intrigal part of bringing New York rap back to the top. And in his sophomore effort 'Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood' he continues to do just that. Billed as a more stripped down, more raw album, 'Flesh' again makes the case that a talented lyricist needs little more than a good beat and some room to show his skills.
In fact, what's most impressive about this album is that one can hear DMX continuing to grow into an even better artist, one who hasn't reached the top of his game yet. After another quality outing it will be interesting to hear not just where DMX goes from here, but the upcoming Murder Inc. project which features DMX, Jay-Z, and Ja Rule. In the meantime, X's fans should be more than pleased once again when they add this album to their rotation.
