1080p
is the latest trend in high-definition sets and Samsung is shipping its
own line of 1080p DLP rear projection TVs ranging from 50- to
70-inches. The 68-series is anchored by the 67-inch HL-R6768W ($5,999)

The 78-series features Samsung’s Cinema Smooth 1080p light engine that the company claims provides the highest screen resolution in a consumer DLP. The full HDTV pixel count digital format converter provides digital picture quality from both high-definition and analog sources. The company’s DNIe video enhancer is also included to optimize motion, contrast and colors for film-like picture. The 50-inch HL-R5078W ($3,699), 56-inch HL-R5678W ($4,199), 61-inch HL-R6178W ($4,699) and 71-inch HL-R7178W ($6,499) are all equipped with a built-in analog/digital tuner for cable. In the 88 series, Samsung offers the 56-inch HL-R5688W pedestal DLP TV ($5,199). Like the 78 series, it is also cable-ready and comes with the Cinema Smooth optical engine to provide a contrast ratio of up to 10,000:1. |
