Polk
Audio has begun shipping the SurroundBar – a streamlined solution for
those who want the surround sound experience without any of the set-up
hassles that can come with it. The SurroundBar uses the company’s
patented Stereo Dimensional Array (SDA) Surround technology to create
what’s described as a completely immersive experience, as if there were
dozens of speakers all around the listener with no need to install rear
speakers.
The technology was developed based on research on how ours ears process and perceive the direction of sounds so it uses a combination of signal processing and acoustical geometry to create the surround experience. The SurroundBar is 43-inches long and houses seven 3.5-inch mid-range drivers and three .75-inch dome tweeters in its aluminum enclosures. The color-coded back panel and matching conductor cable allows users to easily hook up all five channels from any surround sound receiver to the SurroundBar. The speaker is designed to be installed horizontally either above or below the television set. The SurroundBar retails for $949.95 and is available in a black or titanium finish. |
