Sennheiser
Electronic Corp has introduced the M145, a computer/multimedia headset
optimized for Macintosh users. The headset combines high-fidelity
stereo headphones with a hands-free, noise-canceling boomlet microphone
in a small plug-and-play unit compatible with any Apple and Mac system,
including the latest Tiger operating system. Bill Whearty of Sennheiser
explains the need for the M145 by pointing out that because Apple is a
leader in design and the creation of easy to use interfaces it is only
appropriate for the company to design a headset that complements the
Mac design and performance.
The M145 also includes a dedicated USB adapter with built-in soundcard electronics to ensure full input and output audio regardless of the sub-system present in the desktop or laptop host computer. Standard mini stereo plugs also allow the headset to be used as a regular high-fidelity headphone for music players. A flexible neckband allows users to wear the headset for long periods of time and a single-sided cable, cable spool and integrated clothing clip keep wires out of the way. An in-line volume control and mic-mute button allows the wearer to control loudness easily too. The headset is available now at a suggested retail price of $120. |
