Legendary
singer, Ray Charles, died yesterday at his home in Beverly Hills from
complications from liver disease. Charles is best known for tunes like
"Hit The Road Jack" and "Georgia On My Mind" also sang on "We Are The
World" as well as earning 12 Grammy awards.
A performer who Frank Sinatra labeled a "genius" also received accolades from the likes of Aretha Franklin, James Brown and others yesterday. Perhaps his most important musical legacy is his gravely rendition of "America The Beautiful" which serves as an excellent alternative to the often overplayed "Star-Spangled Banner" |
