Ltd. has launched its latest processor, the MaxBass 102, using a
proprietary DSP chip in order to create the illusion of extended bass
response. The MaxxBass improves bass response with no need for extra
amplifier power or loudspeakers with more excursion capability because
it does not use the traditional bass boost technology. Instead, the
processor uses the same, patented Waves technology used by other
companies like Altec Lansing, Sanyo and Sony to enhance bass impact
without distortion or damage to speakers.
The MaxxBass 102 uses the principle of missing harmonics to create the sensation of lower frequencies, allowing listeners to perceive frequencies up to 1.5 octaves below what the speakers actually generate. This illusion results in deeper-sounding bass that does not push speakers past their limits. The processor is ideal for improving bass performance in in-wall speakers without having to build a back box or use damping treatments.
