Warner Bros. Records is denying it, but rumors persist around Hollywood that a Van Halen/David Lee Roth reunion is pending.

To appease egos -- not that there are any egos in Van Halen -- the revived act will be called "Van Halen - Featuring David Lee Roth." Details beyond that are hazy. There is some speculation that the band may go out on tour, but Eddie's health problems will likely delay that for a while.

After the obscene musical and commercial failure of Van Halen III, featuring former Extreme front man Gary Cherone, the pressure is on Warner Bros. Records and Van Halen to put out a popular and profitable record.

Reports on LA radio have suggested that the decision makers at Warner Bros. Records rejected Van Halen's follow up to Van Halen III, basically saying, "Go back in the studio with Sammy or Dave - but just make a hit record."

Fan support for a Van Halen/David Lee Roth reunion is strong. The two tunes from 'The Best of Van Halen' with Diamond Dave show that while Dave no longer has the vocal range he did as a teen, he still can put out a stone cold jam with his Van Halen mates. Commercially, a stadium tour could be as big as the recent Eagles reunion. I wonder if Dave will sing any of the Sammy Hagar era Van Halen tunes?
