McIntosh has announced two brand new Stereo Amplifiers featuring the latest advancements in both electronic component and material design to delivery accuracy, warmth, and emotional impact in music reproduction.  The lesser expensive MC302 was designed to be paired with McIntosh's recently announced C48 Stereo Control Unit.

McIntosh claims the 300 watt-per-channel MC302 is the most advanced amplifier they've ever produced at this power level.  The higher power allows each connected loudspeaker to reach its full audio potential.  Helping ensure high-quality music reproduction are all new patent-spending speaker wire binding posts.

Designed to be durable like all their long-lasting products, the MC302 from McIntosh is able to deliver full rated power to speakers of all shapes and sizes.  Further, the MC302 is engineered to run "cool" in normal use without an extraneous noise from the connected chassis or speakers.  This unit uses the latest advanced transistor types allowing the coolest operation possible, and always the perfect temp for the best sound and longest life.  Temperatures are monitored with Thermal Track technology allowing instant and accurate monitoring and adjustment of temperature, assuring maximum performance with minimal heat.

Cosmetically, the MC302 features the new McIntosh Faceplate and chassis design with a larger easier-to-read precision power Watt Meters. Knowing the true output delivered will allow adjustment of volume to match any speaker's design limits.  For total user convenience, the MC302 can be remotely controlled by a McIntosh control center, and meter illumination may be switched on or off as desired.

The large, oversize power transformer and both of the stereo output autoformers of the MC302 are encapsulated in aluminum enclosures, which are further sealed with transformer potting tar. McIntosh claims this construction technique extends the life of these parts while providing quiet, cool amplifier operation.

As in all McIntosh amplifiers, the MC302 has a full suite of protection circuits. First, Thermal Control safeguards the amplifiers from over-heat conditions.  In addition, shorted speaker wires or loudspeakers will not harm the MC302 thanks to Sentry Monitor. Finally, Power Guard prevents these amplifiers from being overdriven into distortion. This grouping, the Exclusive McIntosh Power Assurance System, protects these units from anomalies in the operating environment while preserving the performance and long life of the MC302.

You can pick up a MC302 Stereo Amplifier from your local McIntosh dealer for $5,500.
