YouTube, a Google-owned website, has entered into agreement with MGM to offer full-length movies and television shows on their website.  MGM will start the partnership by offering episodes of the original "American Gladiators."

Other YoutTube channels will have films like "Bulletproof Monk," "The Magnificent Seven" and clips from "Legally Blonde."  The videos are free to watch, with the ads running alongside the video.

YouTube formed a similar partnership last month with CBS to offer television shows such as "Star Trek," "Young and the Restless," and "Beverly Hills 90210."

YouTube is also experimenting with programs from Time Warner's HBO and CBS's Showtime networks.

I wonder why they picked Youtube over Hulu.

I think that they'll need to improve the quality of their video before I even
consider watching a full length video in Youtube. They need to do this on
something like Miro where you can have high quality by delivering the files via
torrents.

MGM and Hulu already have an agreement and the original American Gladiators has
been available there.

MGM is following a "massively distributed media"
plan where they put their content in front of audiences on multiply sites and
make money everywhere they can from their content.

YouTube does offer higher
quality streams - many videos have a text link underneath that say "watch in
high quality" and it is pretty good.
