Boxee has been well established as an alternative to traditional television for a while now, and their latest creation is going to take a shot right across the bow. The new set-top, pictures of which were leaked by The Verge, packs a tuner, an external antenna, and a box that proudly states "stop spending money on stuff you never watch.
The new set-top takes a traditional form factor instead of the odd shape of the Boxee Box and does away with the need for a dongle to watch live TV. It also adds DVR capabilities – something that's definitely welcome in a set-top. It also sounds like you'll be able to watch this recorded content on your smartphone, but this has yet to be confirmed. There's no word on a release date or price yet, but you can bet that cable cutters are getting excited for this one. |
