There are a few big problems with the Netflix streaming service, but one of the biggest is the lack of new content. It's great if you're in the mood to watch 'Arthur,' or a few old episodes of 'Weeds,' but if you're looking for new movies, you'll be sorely disappointed.
Thanks to a deal with Relativity Media, that's going to change. It's a big step in the long run that could lead to much better days for Netflix. The terms of the deal essentially put Netflix in the same category as premium channels like HBO and Starz. Netflix subscribers will have streaming access to films from Relativity Media just a few months after retail release, just like premium movie channels. One of the first movies affected by the change is 'The Fighter,' starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale and headed to theaters on December 10th. You can bet Netflix is counting down the days. |
