Today is a very big day indeed for the folks over at Netflix.  The streaming service has launched its first original series and reviews thus far are glowing.  'Lillyhammer' stars Steven Van Zandt who you may recognize from 'The Sopranos' or as the guitarist for Bruce Springsteen.  It's  a sort of fish-out-of-water crime drama where a former gangster is sent to Norway under the witness protection program.

If the series is a success among viewers, this will certainly help to dictate the path that Netflix takes going forward.  Netflix is hoping that their new shows will help them retain existing customers while attracting new ones.  'Lillyhammer' is the first show to debut, with the Kevin Spacey vehicle 'House of Cards' and new episodes of 'Arrested Development' on the way.
