Allowing for more flexibility than Windows Media Center based servers, S1 Digital has high hopes for their Digital Entertainment Platform. S1’s DRM workaround allows their servers to capture and stream CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs, even downloading appropriate cover art and data. More impressive though, is the ability to stream live television (via cable card or atsc) from the server to multiple clients.
The server will be available in a 1U chassis with storage sizes of four and eight terabytes. In a 3U chassis, the size options expand to sixteen and thirty-two terabytes. Prices for the new Digital Entertainment Platform start at $3,500. |
