Niveus Media has released a mini server to compliment its lineup of robust, and larger, Media Center servers.  The Zone retails for $1,400 and is available now from Niveus’ website. Physically, the Zone server is 6x6x2 inches, the smallest server from Niveus to date.

It is capable of linking up to other Zone servers to connect the user’s entire digital library to all rooms of the house.  It includes a 1080p Blu-Ray and DVD drive, 7.1 channel audio with internal decoding, and the ability to copy and manage DVDs that are not copy-protected. The Zone can connect to a user’s PC and access all of the media therein via an Ethernet connection, and its initial 160 GB of storage can be expanded via the eSATA ports.
