Hulu is and has always been in a unique position. They're one of few big name streaming companies and the only one that's trying to offer an alternative to traditional television. That's one of the reasons that the company keeps changing - they're trying to find the right way to do things.
The latest idea that's going around in the company is that of transforming the service completely. Rather than offering streaming internet video of shows from the day or week before, Hulu would offer live television, just like a cable provider.
Also just like a cable provider, you would pay a monthly fee for a bundle of channels. It's unclear whether and a la carte option is on the table or not, but consumers would certainly welcome it.
"When we blaze trails, which is what Hulu is about, it takes time," says company exec Jason Kilar. "This is not for the faint of heart, and we understand that."
