The idea of a home theater PC
is an exciting one. Imagine having access to all of your digital media, every streaming service around and never having to worry about codecs or compatibility. The idea is great, but the execution can be less exciting, especially when you've got a large tower sitting next to your TV.
The new KFA2 GTX 460 WHDI is designed to solve that by offering you a wireless connection to your monitor or TV. It doesn't have any traditional outputs, but sports an antenna array that gives you up to 100 feet of range. That 100 foot range gives you the freedom to put your computer just about anywhere you want. Combine it with a wireless keyboard and mouse and it's a pretty slick setup. Of course, you'll still get that 1080p signal and the 40Mhz channel used on the 5GHz frequency should help to avoid any interference. There's no word yet on pricing or a release for the card. |
