While not professional installer grade, Gefen has released a new, working HDMI 1.3 switcher. Ready for this? One HDMI video/audio input and five HDMI video/audio outputs. Hmmmm. Can someone explain the function of this box?
Seems like the switcher is backwards. Shouldn't it be 5 signals in and one signal out. Honestly, who needs to send one signal to five displays. A consumer doesn't and venues need a whole lot more complex distribution setup than one in and five out. But, apparently this switcher supports full DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD passthrough as well as 1080p bandwidth. Gefen even includes a six-foot HDMI cable. Their press release states the device can be bought for a "minimal fee." Right. And minimal means what exactly? |
