Earlier this week, Sony announced the Bravia VPL-VW85, their new flagship projector. The VW85 uses Sony’s High Frame 3SXRD panel which doubles the amount of frames produced and ensures fluid movement throughout the viewing experience. The projector has a 120,000:1 contrast ratio and a Full HD 1080p picture.
Designed to be simple to setup and integrate into existing systems, the VW85 is able to control the entire home theater, powering on and automatically playing a disc if desired. Tak Nakane, Sony’s marketing manager, said that the VPL-VW85 was built based on everything learned from its predecessor, the VLP-VW80. Of the improvements he said “This means real quality plus fine control where it matters, perfect for the home cinema enthusiast keen to upgrade to HD or improve an existing HD setup -- and who wants to do it properly.”
