Paradigm's latest subwoofers fall into the cheaper price range, but they still have a lot of technology that's trickled down from the high-end lines. Though the Monitor Series 7 subwoofers come in a few different sizes, they all share some common threads. All three utilize an Ultra-Class D amplifier that's capable of 900 watts of peak power and 300 sustained.
While the subs do borrow a lot from the higher-end versions, they differ greatly in the look - especially from the Sub 1 and Sub 2. No hexagons here - Paradigm has gone with a more traditional subwoofer design that takes up a minimum of space. The Sub Monitor 8 and Sub Monitor 10 - $699 and $849 respectively - pack a 1.5 inch voice coil and a 4.5 pound ferrite magnet. Moving up to the $999 Sub Monitor 12 increases the voice coil to an even two inches and the magnet to 6.5 pounds. |
