Zvox has always been an interesting brand to follow. They exclusively deal with soundbars and single cabinet audio and aim to compete directly with home theater-in-a-box solutions. The latest releases from the company focus on high performance audio from one source, but also energy efficiency and ease of use.
The Z-Base 555 and ($399) the Z-Base 580 ($599) utilize five speakers and built-in subs inside of a wood cabinet - not plastic like most HTiBs. They use a Class D amplifier that uses just a tenth of a Watt when in standby mode, which Zvox says makes it one of the "greenest" audio systems around. You'll also find new features in the speaker systems, like Dialogue Emphasis, which mimics the same functionality as a hearing aid. It makes the dialogue easier to hear with the touch of a button. The new Zvox systems are shipping now and are available directly from Zvox. |
