It may not be as exciting as the announcement of a new flagship product, but Onkyo's new home theater systems are surprisingly impressive.
Both the 7.1 channel HT-S5400 and the 5.1 channel HT-S3400 feature 3D compatibility, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding as well as an audio return channel. They boast PLL jitter-cleaning circuitry, Burr-Brown DACs and a new Advanced Music Optimizer that helps to restore some life to those compressed audio files. The 5400 offers ProLogic IIz audio processing technology for those that want height channels, a USB port allowing for direct connection to an iPod or iPhone, a powered subwoofer and Audyssey 2EQ which adjusts the sound to fit your listening area. Onkyo's HT-S3400 ditches the USB port and subwoofer pre-out , but still includes a down-firing subwoofer and five speakers. You'll be able to pick up both systems in April at $599 for the 5400 and $379 for the 3400. |
