ZVOX soundbars take sound directly from your TV’s analog output. It makes things nice and easy in the source switching department, since whatever source you switch to on the TV is what you’re hearing through the speakers. Recently however, Tom Hannaher, founder of ZVOX, has noticed a problematic trend in some new sets.
“Several TV manufacturers introduced new models that do not include traditional analog audio output jacks,” says Hannaher. “so the only way to get sound from the TV to your ZVOX sound bar is with a digital connection.” To address that issue, ZVOX has announced a trio of new soundbars that have optical and coaxial digital inputs added.
The three new bars are more of an upgrade to previous models than completely new products. The new HSD series supports digital audio and Dolby Digital decoding, but don’t sacrifice anything from previous models, including analog inputs. The ZVOX 575 HSD can be had for an MSRP of $749.99, while the ZVOX 550 HSD and ZVOX 430 HSD each run $449.99.
