Whether we want to admit it or not, there are some times when smaller, cheaper speakers are what's called for. Unless you're very determined to do so, you're not going to fit the Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus into a dorm room or guest bedroom and you definitely don't want to be carrying the Meridian DSP8000 down the stairs.
Boston Acoustics wants to be there for you in the cases that compact and inexpensive are required traits. The new SoundWare S is a step up from the XS sound system and gives up a bit in the size department for improved overall sound. The 5.1 system uses 3-1/2" mid-bass drivers and 3/4" tweeters in all of the satellite speakers and offers a 10 inch, 200 watt subwoofer to provide the bass. It's not going to blow away the setup in your main room, but for $799 it'll provide just enough for those smaller rooms.
