Universal Remote Control has released the MX-5000, a remote that has only virtual buttons that respond to tactile feedback, or haptics. This technology makes each click of the button feel as real as the real thing. The remote uses a single sensation for all of the button presses, but URC is looking into expanding this to include different sensations for such processes as volume control.
The MX-5000 features a 2.7 inch color LCD touch screen, compatibility with the URC base station and IR/RS-232 items, WiFi, and rechargeable batteries. The pricing has not been established, but URC assures that it will not be above $1,500. |
