The word is out about Creston’s latest home control system, Prodigy. Designed as a more affordable solution, many people are speculating that this is aimed at Control4’s market in a bid to make the competitor run for its money. Creston officials have only said that the Prodigy was created to expand into new markets. The pricing for the Prodigy system is similar to Control4’s $300 system, or $700 system + 2-way ZigBee remote.
Prodigy products are selling for about $700 for a media controller remote, less than $700 for an in-wall touch screen and $99 wireless dimmers. The Prodigy line uses wizard-based programming and ZigBee wireless technology, but it is not compatible with other Creston products.
