Three
new power amplifiers designed for high-performance custom AV
installations, individually or in combination, have been introduced by
Rotel. The 2x50-watt RKB-250, the 6x50W RKB-650, and the 2-x-100W
RKB-2100—all 20Hz-20kHz, 0.05% THD—deliver expandable, configurable
power for custom-installed home theater and whole-house systems. In
addition, Rotel will introduce a fan-cooling kit, the RKF-100, designed
to serve the new, rack-mountable amplifiers in tight locations or
cabinets with restricted ventilation.
Each of the new Rotel RKB amps stands on the foundation of a Rotel power supply employing carefully specified, toroidal power transformers combining large dynamic reserves in a compact size. As for current reserves, all three models will double their 8&Mac189; power into 4&Mac189; loads with full-specification performance. Features include: • Compact design with built-in rack-mount capability and IEC-standard power cords for fast, easy, stable, pro installation • Cool-running, fanless design for silent operation under most conditions (RKF-100 fan-cooling kit available for difficult locations) • Comprehensive protection systems—including DC, infrasonic, thermal overload, and short-circuit • Front-panel gain controls for fast, easy setup, with custom-integrated, tamper-proof security covers that protect system integrity; front-panel power and signal indicators • 12-volt turn-on/off triggers for integrated system control • Audio pass-through, as well as 12-volt trigger outs for easy daisy-chaining of multiple amps for multichannel and multiroom/zone setups • “Five-way” speaker output connectors for flexible hookup with full signal integrity Availability: First Quarter 2005 Suggested Retail Prices: RKB-250 (2x50W) $550 RKB-650 (6x50W) $900 RKB-2100 (2x100W) $800 RKF-100 fan-cooling kit $400 Like this article?
