Panasonic’s 3D Plasma Home Theater System is Magnolia Exclusive  Print E-mail

It’s easy to get confused if you’re trying to get 3D set up in your home.  There’s a lot to remember.  Your television needs to be capable, your player needs to be capable, and of course, you’ve got to get those glasses.  Panasonic’s made it a bit easier by creating a 3D home theater system exclusively for Best Buy’s Magnolia customers.

In the package you’ll get a 50” Panasonic VIERA VT20 plasma set that Panasonic says is “equivalent to the VT25 series that was voted "Best of Show" at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show.”  You’ll also get the BDT300, the Best Buy exclusive version of the BDT350.  You also get a single pair of 3D Active glasses.

All in all, the $2,899 package saves you around $150, which – certainly by no small coincidence – is the amount you’ll have to shell out for a second set of glasses.   Starting today, the 50” sets are available, but if you’re after something bigger, you’re in luck.  Panasonic’s home theater system will soon be available in 54”, 58” and 65” sizes, with pricing and availability to be announced.

I don't see the fuss about 3D. Call me old-fashioned, but I think a good script,
good acting and good direction are what is important to a movie or TV show.
Avatar was terrible, but it looked good. But that's not enough for me. I like
watching online
video sites and keep up to date with www.twitter.com/dozenvideo
but I can't see what the 3D hype is all about. I think in 2 years, 3D will be
yesterday's news. Don't believe the hype, 3D is just another gimmick.
