Just a year after Panasonic decided to cut back on television production in general, the company may be abandoning plasma completely. Panasonic has announced that over the next year, plasma production will stop at its main plant. Over the next three years, production will slow even more. Panasonic has often been hailed as the best of the bunch when it comes to plasma TVs, and up until now they've still been making quite a few new models – 16 new plasmas were announced at CES. If Panasonic gets out of the game, it could lead to further abandonment of the tech that's favored by a good many people. Perhaps OLED prices will come down in time to satisfy. |
