Manufacturer exclusives on Blu-rays are a bummer. If you want 'Monsters vs. Aliens' for example, you've got to pick up a Samsung set and Blu-ray player to go with it. But so far, it hasn't been that big of a deal. Panasonic's changing that up this fall.
If there's one movie that solidified the whole 3D movement, it's 'Avatar,' and Panasonic's got it. It's obviously a much bigger title than 'Coraline,' their other exclusive 3D Blu-ray, and it's expected to drive a lot of hardware sales their way. To be fair, the news hasn't been officially confirmed yet, and the companies involved have declined to comment. But it wouldn't be a surprise, since Panasonic was so closely tied with the production of James Cameron's blockbuster film. |
